Vermosa Green Run cites gains made in sports, animal welfare and environmental sustainability

The Green Run is this coming Sunday

The fourth edition of the Vermosa Green Run is set to gun off on Sunday, June 29 at the 750-hectare Vermosa Estate in Imus, Cavite with the 21K category leading the way at 4:30 a.m,.

Following closely are the 10K category that starts at 5:00 a.m., the 5K and 3K categories at 5:30 a.m. and the 1K Dog Run at 7 a.m. The event is presented by AyalaLand Estates and Vermosa in partnership with Pinoy Fitness.

Four years since its inaugural run in July 2022, the Green Run has made its impact felt in the areas of its advocacies.

Starting off with a focused support of the environment and an advocacy for an active lifestyle in the wake of the pandemic that year, the Green Run chose the Haribon Foundation as its first beneficiary and spearheaded a high-energy return to foot races after a two-year hiatus.

Since then, the multi-level run has been staged yearly, attracting serious, leisure, aspiring and elite runners to the great outdoors of Vermosa Estate. It continues to push for an active lifestyle, the environment and sustainability, and now also champions youth sports and animal welfare. Vermosa Green Run participants have grown steadily each year, with 1,200 runners breaking out in 2022 to nearly 3000 signing up in 2025.

This year, the Green Run is inviting both runners and guests to be actively involved in sustainability by bringing their used plastics to the Run. The plastics will be recycled and converted by Ayala Land Estates, Inc. and the Makati Development Corporation (MDC) into sustainable construction materials like fillers for concrete and asphalt and other concrete aggregates that will build “green” sidewalks and fences in support of Ayala Land’s green development initiatives. Participants that donate will get a discounted rate on their Green Run registration.

The Haribon Foundation continues to be a Green Run beneficiary on its fourth year as Vermosa Estate and Ayala Land sustain the planting and adoption of seedlings and saplings that continue to grow at the Kaliwa River Forest Reserve in Barangay San Andres, Tanay Rizal.

For the third straight year, the Green Run pushes hard for the Pawssion Project, a non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes stray animals. The Green Run continues to create greater awareness about animal welfare as it continues to support dogs in the organization that has to date already made over 2,000 rescues, 1,000 re-homed and provided 600 shelters for homeless dogs and cats.

Its support of young athletes from Takbo Kabitenyo, a non-profit organization for young runners from Cavite, also shows progressive results.

Some of our young runners have consistently landed podium finishes at school-level, city, and provincial competitions. These achievements are a reflection not only of their talent but also of the discipline and dedication they’ve cultivated through training, and we thank Vermosa for allowing us to use their excellent sports facilities that provide our athletes with the competitive edge,” said Takbo Kabitenyo president Noel Diaz.

Diaz cites the standout stories of Vince John Marzo, a college student who ran with the relay team that won Bronze Medal in the 4x400m event at the 2025 NCAA Season 100 Track and Field Competition, and John Mark Balogo, who may get a spot in the National Track and Field Team after placing second in the 5000m final event within the same NCAA season.

While most of our success stories are still at the local and regional levels, we’re laying the groundwork for future participation in national and international competitions. We’re excited for what’s ahead and grateful for the opportunity to help these young talents shine on bigger stages through their training in the best possible environment,” Diaz said.

Fourth edition of the Vermosa Green Run to champion fitness, sustainability, youth sports, and animal welfare

The Green Run

The Green Run at Vermosa is back for the fourth consecutive time this June, with this year's edition highlighting a renewed commitment towards fitness, environmental sustainability, animal welfare and youth sports development.

Called the Vermosa Green Run 2025: A Force of Four in Year 4, it will be off and running on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at the Vermosa Estate in Imus, Cavite. This year, Ayala Land’s flagship multi-level running event launches a Plastic Donation and Collection Drive alongside its 3K, 5K, 10K, and 21K road races.

All participants are encouraged to bring used plastics that will be recycled and repurposed by Ayala Land Estates Inc. and Makati Development Corporation (MDC). The plastic waste will be transformed into sustainable construction materials, concrete aggregates and other tools to build sidewalks and fences that will contribute to Ayala Land’s green development initiatives. Those who donate get a discounted rate on their Green Run registration.

Coming back for the third time is the popular 1K Dog Run that promotes Ayala Land’s advocacy for animal welfare. This special feature of the Green Run was introduced in 2023 to provide people a fun and meaningful way to engage in physical activity while bonding with their furry companions and to raise awareness on animal welfare.

The young athletes of Takbo Kabitenyo, a 200-member-strong group that runs for health reasons and competes in marathons around the country, will join the Green Run. The young runners from this group receive training, mentorship and the use of Vermosa’s sports facilities as part of Ayala Land’s championing of young athletes.

Event proceeds will benefit key advocacy partners, including Pawssion Project, which champions animal welfare, Haribon Foundation, a leader in reforestation efforts, and Takbo Kabitenyo, a local program supporting young athletes through training and mentorship opportunities.

"Each step you take at the Vermosa Green Run supports a bigger cause; combining fitness, sustainability, and community support into one meaningful event," said Chrissy Roa, Ayala Land Estates’ Marketing and Communications group head.

Now an established benchmark for purpose-driven lifestyle events, the Vermosa Green Run reinforces Ayala Land’s long-term vision for sustainability, proving that fitness can be a powerful catalyst for environmental and social impact.

The Green Run draws banner field in 2024 in Vermosa

The Green Run

The end of June saw another successful running event inside Vermosa, as the AyalaLand's 700-hectare modern suburban estate in Imus hosted the 2024 edition of The Green Run.

Now on its third iteration, over 2,500 individuals lacing up their running shoes for varying distances, between 3K, 5K, 10K, and 21K. In addition, over three hundred dogs of varying breeds, alongside their fur parents, participated on a quaint Sunday morning for a 1.4K Dog Run.

Such demand, which led to a sold-out event, reflects the continued enthusiasm for running, while also highlighting the community's desire to remain involved in meaningful advocacies, in this case being a greener society.

Edgardo Panopio leads the casts of winners, clocking in at 89 minutes and 21 seconds for the men's 21K division, beating out Andy Borras Jr by over a minute.

On the women's side, Jennifer Padallan finished with a time of 110 minutes and four seconds, with also a winning margin of just over a minute against Joan Caralian.

Winning the 10K portion are Jhojie Daga-As (39:56) and Sofia Capistrano (45:07), while Polo Himoc (15:20) and Hazel Zamora (22:49) topped the 5K category.

As for the 3K, it is James Lawrence Sabal needed just over eleven and a half minutes for the men, with Danielle Sophia Yurango timed in at fourteen minutes and forty seconds.

AyalaLand Inc. marketing and communications group head Chrissy Roa says about their successful event, "We are extremely happy and grateful for the overwhelming support and response of runners in this year’s Green Run. More than just bringing fun and promoting healthy living, we are delighted to also give the running community a worthy cause to support. The Green Run’s main mission is to give back to the community by concretizing our commitment to protect the environment, championing young athletes and promoting animal care."

She adds, "This year, we welcomed Takbo Kabitenyo to the growing family of Vermosa. We opened the Ayala Vermosa Sport Hub to youth runners from Cavite who have a strong potential to become national athletes. We are committed to providing them with training support and the use of our state-of-the-art facilities. We look forward to producing athletes who will bring pride to our country in the future while providing them with opportunities to have a better quality of life."

The Cavite-based community, alongside animal welfare advocate Pawssion Project, joined the Haribon Foundation as The Green Run's beneficiary for this year.

Vermosa Green Run set to a return with a twist

The Green Run

With an impressive debut last year, organizers are bringing back The Green Run next month, aligned with the idea of promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.

The second edition of the event will take place at the Ayala Vermosa Estate on June 25, with the theme "We're Back And Greener Than Ever."

Runners will have a variety of distances to test their limits, accommodating a variety of fitness levels, from 3K, 5K, 10K, or 21K. Whether you are a serious competitor, a fitness enthusiast, or a weekend warrior and fun runner, there is a length you can choose from.

What makes this edition different from the previous iteration is the inclusion of a specific category for pets. A special kilometer run with their furry friends alongside their owners will make it a special bonding experience.

Helping oversee the event is Pinoy Fitness, with proceeds from registration directed towards the Haribon Foundation's Adopt-a-Seedling Program. Apropos for the theme, there will be recycling machines c/o Sun Life ReCycle PH for runners and guests to place their used plastic bottles in exchange for points, which can then be exchanged for prizes.

Serving as the event's non-life insurance partner is FPG Insurance, who will also provide free group personal accident insurance for The Green Run participants.

Ayala Vermosa Sports Hub General Manager Lani Tan says, "Our Ayala Vermosa Sports Hub, a state-of-the-art professionally–managed sports facility that has a FINA-standard Olympic size pool, a warm-up pool, an IAAF-standard 400m track oval, a football pitch, athletes’ lounge and a Sante Fitness Lab, all speak about our commitment to fitness, health and overall wellness as well as the development of Philippine sports." A sports and fitness enthusiast herself, she adds that having an event like The Green Run fits with the long-term plan of the facility.

Vermosa Project Development Manager Moses John Aragones shares, "Last year, we encouraged people to re-enjoy the outdoors after years of being cooped up at home due to the pandemic. This year, we want to build on that newfound appreciation by inviting people to develop a habit for fitness and wellness. Physical activities like running really boost our immune system by providing more refreshing experiences that reduce stress. The abundance of wide-open spaces and state-of-the-art sports facilities at the Sports Hub, make The Green Run a once-a-year activity to look forward to as a mental and physical health booster."

Echoing these statements are a couple of influencers.

"One of the major enticements to run The Green Run is the breathtaking scenery and the abundant foliage throughout the 750-hectare property. Running in a green, wide open environment is extra motivating and beneficial to physical and mental health," says Monch Henares, an award-winning journalist and motoring/travel blogger.

"Open spaces, wide pedestrian walkways, bicycle and jogging lanes that wind through Vernosa make the running both memorable and inspiring," says Arabelle Jimenez, a lifestyle blogger, travel writer and swimming coach who regularly runs at Vermosa for fitness and fun.

Also lending their support to The Green Run are Pocari Sweat, Milo, Fitbar, and Merrell Shoes.

Interesting runners can register at Toby's or Runnr stores, or go online at ayalaland.myruntime.com.
