The first Grand Slam for 2022 is set to kick off, and with a new broadcaster in tow.
Filipino fans can check out the Australian Open on a new sports channel called beIN Sports 2, with 140 hours of coverage, starting tomorrow, January 17 at 8am, until January 30. Aside from the live action, the channel showcase documentaries, highlights, and classics, among others.
With both Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer not participating, Rafael Nadal has the chance to break their three-way tie at twenty Grand Slam men's singles titles. Serving as the major hurdle are last year's runner-up and US Open champion Daniil Medvedev, as well as Tokyo 2020 gold medalist and ATP Tour Finals champion Alex Zverev.
On the women's side, defending champion Naomi Osaka seeks to bounce back after a roller coaster of a year in 2021, with top-seed. hometown favorite, and Wimbledon champion Ashleigh Barty, Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejčíková, new darling and US Open champion Emma Raducanu, and Tokyo 2020 gold medalist Belinda Bencic leading the challengers.
beIN Sports has also secured the rights to the second Grand Slam of the year with the French Open in May, as well as the ATP Tour. The group is best known for their football content, with the rights to the following competitions: Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1, Major League Soccer, and the FA Cup.
beIN Sports is among the channels available on SKYcable's HD plans, which run for as low as PhP 500.
