The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas will be having its Coaches' Summitt on July 20-21 at the Meralco Fitness Center in Ortigas Avenue, Pasig City.
The Summit is in partnership with FIBA Singapore and Oceania Executive Director David Crocker, and will take place between 9-5pm on both days.
The SBP brought in a couple of Australians to serve as foreign clinicians: Damian James Cotter, who has seventeen years of national coaching experience, and current Melbourne United head coach Dean Vickerman.
Among the local coaches serving as clinicians for this summit are SBP Coaches Academy director Jong Uichico, Gilas Pilipinas head coach Yeng Guiao, Gilas Pilipinas Youth head coach Sandy Arespacochaga, and Basketball Coaches Association of the Philippines President Louie Gonzalez.
The SBP Coaches' Summit is the first-ever FIBA Coaches' Summit that the SBP is hosting and presenting, with the aim of uplifting the knowledge of a tactician, as well as equip, empower, and assist them in improving their team's performance. Since this is open as well for coaches in neighboring ASEAN member-countries, it is also an opportunity for them to help grow the interest of the sport in their respective nations.
