Olympians set to grace NBA Rising Stars Invitational

NBA Rising Stars Invitational

To highlight the NBA Rising Stars Invitational set to take place later this month in Singapore, the league will have a couple of greats gracing the proceedings.

Two-time WNBA champion and Basketball Hall of Famer Lauren Jackson, and three-time NBA All-Star and Lithuanian lynchpin Domantas Sabonis will be present at the event, which is the league's first regional high-school basketball tournament.

Joining both of them in the event are a couple of Phoenix Suns: Ryan Dunn and Oso Ighodaro, as well as Keisei Tominaga, who played collegiate ball at Nebraska and will be playing for Levanga Hokkaido in the upcoming B.LEAGUE season.

Houston Rockets and Chinese basketball icon Yao Ming is also set to make special appearances during the competition, which will be held at the Kallang Tennis Hub from June 25-29, in collaboration with NBA Singapore, Sport Singapore (SportSG), and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).

The Laker Girls and Miami Heat mascot Burnie will also be at the tournament to provide live entertainment.

To determine the field, teams were identified in collaboration with the local basketball federations and leagues. For the Philippines, a local qualifying event was conducted last month at the Gatorade Hoops Center, with the finals being held at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Polish and San Antonio Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan visited the country for the tournament, which saw high school powerhouse National University-Nazareth School win in both the boys and girls division, earning the tickets to the Lion City.

The competition will feature round-robin play in the first three days, with outstanding teams advancing into the knockout rounds on the remaining two days. Aside from on-court competition, participants will also take part in skill development, social responsibility programming and off-court activities promoting cultural exchange. Outstanding individual performers will have the opportunity to potentially secure invitations to future NBA basketball development camps, showcases, and programs.

The NBA Rising Stars Invitational is supported by Official Community Partner Karim Family Foundation (KFF).
