Far Eastern University resumes online chess seminars

Some of the best pawnpushers in the Philippines are set to pay it forward, with the resumption of the monthly online seminars by Far Eastern University.

Backed by the school's chairman Aurelio Montinola III as well as by athletic director Mark Molina, the seminar is open to interested participants 11-17 years old, it will feature lectures from the likes of GM Jayson Gonzales, WGM Janelle Mae Frayna, and IM Paulo Bersamina.

The seminars on February 20 and 27 includes is a talk from chess icon Eugene Torre, as well as Woman FIDE Master Michelle Yaon.

Gonzales, who heads the Philippine Academy for Chess Excellence, shares, "As what Martin Luther King said, the function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education."

Capping off the seminars is a exclusive mini-tournament for the attendees on February 28.
